PRE-Q: PARAMETRIC TUBE OVERDRIVE

PRE-Q: PARAMETRIC TUBE OVERDRIVE
This is the AMPSAMPS PRE-Q Parametric Tube Overdrive!
As of Jan 1, 2026, updated with more options!
I am now offering the big box PRE-Q for guitar and/or bass, with XLR Direct Out via a Cinemag Quad Eight transformer, and with an updated control configuration. Rather than the master volume in the middle (small knob) and pre-volume, midrange and tone as on the original unit, I now offer Treble Middle & Bass controls across the top, with the preamp Volume in the middle over the LEDs, and based on the actual/original Ampeg VT40 preamp.
There are 3 variants:
1) PRE-Q Parametric Tube Overdrive V1 (has the 5879 Pentode, pre- and post- volume controls, Midrange (300hz/1khz/3khz selectable) and a master tone control. Tube lineup. Tube Lineup: 5879, 12AX7, 12AX7. This is the unit that is featured in the Eirik Stordrange video. $800
2) PRE-Q π (guitar) Features the original Ampeg VT40 preamp with Volume, Treble, Middle (300hz/1khz/3khz selectable) and Bass controls, with the EQ curve tailored for guitar. Tube Lineup: 3x 12AX7. $800
3) PRE-Q π’ (bass) Features the original Ampeg VT40 preamp with Volume, Treble, Middle (300hz/1khz/3khz selectable) and Bass controls, with the EQ curve tailored for bass. Tube Lineup: 3x 12AX7. $800
I am also offering the XLR DI out option on all units. (+$100)
In addition to the awesome custom wound Cinemag inductor for the selectable midrange frequencies, all units come with a dual-primary power transformer, hooked up for your local voltage (international or US, if you would like that on a toggle, please let me know).
Inspired by the tone of the classic Gibson Tweed amps, as well as the the flexibility and functionality of the Ampeg VT-40 midrange circuitry, the AMPSAMPS PRE-Q is all-tube hardwired preamp⦠a unique and endlessly useful tool for any musician looking to carve out their frequency in the sonic spectrum.
Dimensions: 11 x 7 x 2.5, 5lbs.
