This is the AMPSAMPS PRE-Q Parametric Tube Overdrive.

Inspired by the tone of the classic Gibson Tweed & Filmosound amps, as well as the the flexibility and functionality of the Ampeg VT-40 midrange circuitry, the AMPSAMPS PRE-Q Parametric Tube Overdrive builds upon the design and idea behind the PRE85 & PREF86 as an all-tube hardwired preamp. Your signal passes through a 5879 pentode, capturing the full sonic spectrum of your playing… the details of your fingers/pick attack, low end thump, and drives it into a parametric midrange control that allows you to boost or cut 300, 1khz and 3khz via the 3 position selector switch. The unit features both a pre- and post-inductor volume control, so you can drive the inductor hard or roll it back to tame the volume and gain that’s on tap. There’s also a tone control that allows you to dial in some of the high end content when boosting the 300hz frequency when using humbuckers, or tame any harshness when using single coils and boosting the 1-3khz frequencies. The PRE-Q is a unique and endlessly useful tool for any musician looking to carve out their frequency in the sonic spectrum.
