Vintage Ediquip 1027A "Tape Reader" amplifier, originally built in California for the film and editing industry. These compact units have developed a cult following among guitarists and recording engineers for their raw, aggressive overdrive and unique midrange character. Similar units have been associated with vintage recording setups and have long been favored by players chasing garage rock, proto-metal, punk, doom, and desert rock tones. I always reference the guitar tone in the intro of "How to Handle a Rope” off the first QOTSA album.
Despite its small size, the 1027A delivers surprising volume and attitude. The onboard speaker makes it a fantastic studio amp, while the extension speaker output allows it to drive larger cabinets for recording or practice use.
Features:
Compact steel "lunchbox" style cabinet
Internal speaker
Extension speaker / headphone output
Solid-state circuit
Excellent recording amp
